To cake or to cupcake?

So since this is all going down in Florida, and we happen to live in Chicago...we are on the fence of whether to order a cake or have cupcakes.
Both have their appeal, so let's weigh the pros and cons-

Cake:
Pros-
Cake is CAKE! and who doesn't love wedding cakes???   I (Sherry) drool at the thought of white cake with overly sweet buttercream icing.  And we can get a bulldog cake topper where the little doggies are dressed as bride and groom- melts my heart it's so stinking cute (ssshhh don't tell George, but I've been eyeing me some bulldog cake toppers on ETSY).

Cons-
Since we are getting married in Florida, there is no easy way to sucessfully get the topper back to Chicago for the one year anniversary tradition. In addition, we will be staying in Florida a few days after the wedding, so we won't have a way to successfully keep the cake frozen for those few days and then get it home on the plane.  It may mean we are eating smashed up birthday cake for our first anniversary.

In addition, if we choose not to go with cake in Florida, there is still another opportunity for cake.  We are having a reception in Ohio on July 28, so we will definitely have a cake there and can easily bring the topper home as my mom can wrap that baby up in freezer paper.  It can be packed nicely in our car and arrive safely to be placed immediately in our freezer.

Cupcakes:
Pros-
We can order multiple flavors.  It's easier to deal with and no cake cutting is required.  Plus, cupcakes are the hot trend and cupcakes are cute.  If we go this route, we might get white cake with white buttercream icing.  Maybe we'll find a nice a bakery that can make one to look like a bulldog.

If you are in the dark about my (Sherry) Bulldog obsession, know that it's because I have one.  His name is Neiman Marcus and he's beautiful.  He'll be 7 years old on April 29, so our wedding on April 28 is as close to his birthday as it gets.  I have been around him since he was 4 HOURS old.  Unfortunately, Marcus won't be going to Florida for the ceremony & wedding, but he will be at the Ohio reception with his bow tie.  I can talk about Marcus forever, but since this blog is SnydertoChen, not 'Sherry's bulldog is the cutest bulldog in the world.blogspot', I must move on...

Cons-
No bulldog cake toppers (insert frowny face).  No cake cutting pictures. :(((

We will not partake in smearing cake in each other's faces- no offense, but we will rise above that temptation.

On January 29-31, we will be in Panama City Beach for some cake tasting, so we can figure this all out then...to have cake...or to have cupcake.  In the meantime, what are your thoughts/suggestions???
